Monday holiday
Just when you think you have it all figured out, the realization comes to you that the rules are always changing. I guess the important thing to know is what game youre playing. Posted by Howard at 01:48 PM | Comments (4) June 23, 2005
Dog days
Today, I dropped my nine month labrador retriever, Ozzy, at the kennel for about nine days. The dog is probably fine but I am feeling like an asshole for leaving him there. Im wondering if these are more my issues than his. Anybody else ever feel like this? A melancholy dog dad. Posted by Howard at 07:22 PM | Comments (3) June 19, 2005
Balance
Does the drive and competitiveness of your soul sometimes keep you from enjoying the moment. I believe the greatest journey is the one where you are comfortable with the destination. I think that our ego sometimes makes us run too quick and fear keeps us from moving at all. Oh, for that perfect balance!!! Posted by Howard at 10:03 AM | Comments (0) May 07, 2005
Cub Karma
After meeting up with the boys from work and some San Diego Sinderellas, I watched the Cubs blow another one in a very unique way. Which brings me to the question, Are certain things in life drected by forces of nature for which you have no control, or our group energies, positive or negative, the controlling influence? Is there an answer to this question? Perhaps in a few hundred years through quantum physics or some new thought proces, this will be quantified. As far as the after hours conversation, I will say this. Differences of opinion not only bring about neural growth, it defines the human condition. The human condition is about passion. With it your life has meaning. Without it, youre wasting the air. Remember, this aint no dress rehearsal. Posted by Howard at 07:23 AM | Comments (4) February 17, 2005
Leaving Las Vegas
Its 1020pm and I am in my getting ready for bed. Age has a price. There is no greater place in the world to watch greed, fear, envy and ego take the minds of basically sane 2 legged animals and turn them into victims of chance. Hey, I still think its a neat place. What has changed is my expectations of the outcome. Tommy and I actually won $100 each. We were up more but, oh well, we had a great time. Posted by Howard at 12:17 AM | Comments (0) January 29, 2005
Getting the "Groove " Back
When youre in a funk, or just not present, it seems as though you will never get your "groove" back. What is the "groove". Its the place where now is now, yesterday was yesterday, and tomorrow will be tomorrow. Sounds simple, doesnt it? I think the key to getting it back is to realize that when you feel uncomfortable, look at it, acknowledge it, and let it run its course. A wise man once told me life is like a hockey game. You cant prepare for every bounce of the puck or check of the body, but you take them as they come and deal with them as they happen. Posted by Howard at 04:53 PM | Comments (2) January 21, 2005
Time
This topic has fascinated me for a long time. What is time? When we use it as a measurement, it defines the quantity of things. I think its best to not measure time but to enjoy the experiences that it gives us. I think people try to remember times so much that they forget to feel what that moment brought them. Its not important to know exactly when you fell in love, smelled the August fragrance of the linden trees, or the peace of a steady snow on a windless day. I guess its about the journey thats most important. Time can be a great gift if you let it be or a curse if you are constantly trying to manipulate it. BRING ON THE SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Livng
After taking some time off of my website, I have decided to start writing again. This will be my open forum for those who want to participate. My first issue is the network news. Why do we watch this poison? Is it because we have no lives of our own and we have to be distracted by the tragedy de jour? Is it because you can watch these events and say better them than me? Perhaps its the other side. Perhaps it is our existential side that says but for the grace of God go I? How productive is this in the growth of your being? My guess is not very much. Perhaps its time in our lives to do something good than watch something bad. Posted by Howard at 12:25 PM | Comments (2) August 25, 2004

Lance
I find it amazing that a French author has written a book about the supposed cheating by Lance Armstrong. The only thing the French have to offer this world is excuses, some decent wine and beautiful scenery. As far as empowerment, motivation and sense of team; well, maybe they should import some of those tributes from the U.S.A. Viva la Lance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well here I am.... Howard's neighbor.... who's been asked to join in. I feel honored to be a part of this new venture! Not sure of what to talk about yet. It's a bit daunting, airing your thoughts to the world.... not knowing if anyone is really interested. Well, this is a test primarily anyway. Hope it works & hope to contribute in some significant way soon. Posted by Leila at 11:54 AM | Comments (0) June 21, 2004
